Guaranteed housing
At University College Roosevelt, you will live on campus with 600 students from all over the world! We offer guaranteed and affordable housing in the city center of Middelburg for the entire duration of your studies. There are four main student housing locations, three of which have private studio apartments and one of which has student rooms with shared facilities. All campus locations are a short walk away from our main academic building on the market square. After being accepted, students can indicate their housing preference, which will be allocated based on availability.
Academic buildings
All classes at University College Roosevelt are taught in one of our four academic buildings: Franklin, Theodore, Eleanor and Anne. Our main academic building, Franklin, is located in the former town hall of Middelburg. This is a beautiful gothic building right on the market square. Across from Franklin, you will find Theodore, our smallest academic building.
There are two classrooms in here as well as the Hans Lipperhey Museum, which tells the story of how Middelburg resident Hans Lipperhey discovered the telescope all the way back in 1608 . When you walk across the street, you will find Eleanor. In this building you find more classrooms as well as faculty offices. Next to Eleanor, in the Anne building, you can find the Science and Engineering labs, as well as several study spaces and the Forum classroom. Anne is our newest academic building, having been officially opened by minister of Education, Culture and Science Ingrid van Engelshoven in November, 2021.
Tutoring & advising system
Every first year student at UCR will be assigned a personal tutor. This is a professor who will guide and support the student in navigating college life, exploring diverse academic subjects, pursuing new interests and understanding graduation requirements. In years two and three, departmental advisors help students navigate their academic journey by guiding course selection within the department, career planning and fostering resilience.
Study Skills, Planning & Writing Assistance
Workshops, lunch sessions or individual coaching are being offered to UCR students that run into issues of a practical nature, such as procrastination, difficulties in writing papers or planning work.
Career Services
Each year UCR’s Academic Affairs Council publishes a guide for graduate schools and internships. Moreover, Students can make use of Utrecht University’s Career Services. Our LinkedIn is also a great source to get insight in the careers of our Alumni.
Student associations
University life is about more than just studying and attending classes. This is why there is a vibrant student life at UCR!
There are several student associations that students can join to meet new people, socialize and build social skills. Middelburg is a smaller city and as one of its strengths it has a very active student community that organizes plenty of activities while being in a safe location with everything in walking distance. All UCR Students are part of Roosevelt’s All Students Association (RASA). This is the umbrella organization underneath which you’ll find over 40 different societies and student initiatives to join. You will soon find a society or team that you are passionate about. Another place on campus where students like to come together is our Common House Elliot. This is a student run location where students can have a cup of coffee, study in the silent study area or even have a party in the bar downstairs.
