What is the influence of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, or Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales in today’s society? What is the role of English in international politics? What does ‘World Englishes’ mean? Is there any such thing as Standard English? As a student in the English Language and Culture bachelor's programme, you will learn to think critically, whilst studying the English Language from all possible angles.

Is this the programme for you?

You enjoy English at school and love language in general. You are already quite good at English and you must be highly motivated to learn how you can master it as well as be interested in its history and culture. You love reading and want to be able to place literary works in their historical context.
